Mary "Mary
Poppins" Ann Landt
September 23, 1933 – November 8, 2022
Mary Ann Landt "Mary Poppins", age 89, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, 2022, at her residence after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Mary Ann was born Sept. 23, 1933, daughter of the late William H. and Violet Popelka Ouradnik. She grew up in the Manitowoc area and graduated with the Lincoln class of 1951. She worked at many places, finally retiring at age 83 from what she proclaimed as her favorite job-as a housekeeper at Day Services at the former Holiday House in Manitowoc, where she fell in love with all of the clients and staff.
Mary is survived by 4 children and their families: Kent Landt of Two Rivers; Jayne and Paul Schultz of Francis Creek area, David and Shelly Landt, granddaughter, Jessica Landt and great grandson, Ayden Rockwell, of Manitowoc, and James and Kay Landt, granddaughters, Alyssa and Macie, of San Simon, AZ. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Joan (Harlas) Luckow, Shirley Barner, and her brother, Melvin Ouradnik. Mom was number 9 of 14 children. Those who were waiting to greet her; Norma (Archie) Brouchoud, Lorraine (Leonard) Reno, William (Alvina) Ouradnik, Helen (Eugene) Peters, Jack (Mary Ellen) Ouradnik, Evelyn (Harold) Hammerberg, Tom (Gertrud) Ouradnik, Hazel Arneman, Jane Kracht, (Shirley O.) Ouradnik, Gary (Sandy) Ouradnik, and many nieces, nephews, and "greats". Now THAT'S a family reunion!
Mom loved to laugh, indulge in a few beers, but mostly will be remembered by the many items she would sew and hand out to friends, family, and strangers. She loved to watch Bob Ross and tried her hand at painting, claiming to be "not too shabby". She also asked us to make keepsakes out of her cremains so we could all have a piece of her ash…her words, her sense of humor. Mom, you are loved and our memories will keep us in "stitches".
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Crematory and at Mary's request, there will be a private family celebration.
