Maryann Gonzalez, Md Mba's Obituary
MaryAnn Gonzalez, age 56, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
MaryAnn was a Family Medicine physician for Aurora Healthcare in Sheboygan who specialized in Adult Medicine and the management of chronic diseases. She was board certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM since 1997. She held medical licenses in both Wisconsin and Ohio. She did her medical residencies at the Toledo Hospital, OH and Duke University Medical Center, NC. She became a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners in 1994. MaryAnn received her Medical Doctorate at the Medical College of Ohio in 1993.
MaryAnn was awarded a Master's Degree in Biology in 1987 from Bowling Green State University, OH. Later in life, she earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from the George Washington University, D.C. in 2015. MaryAnn was a certified medical coder and a member of the AAPC. She was a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Women's Association. MaryAnn was also certified in canine CPR/first aid-she was very proud of this fact!
MaryAnn was born on November 11, 1960 in Manila, Philippines to Esperanza Roa Gonzalez and the late Antonio M. Gonzalez. She immigrated with her family to Canada in 1964, became a U.S. citizen in 1975, and was raised and educated in Ohio during her early years.
Besides devoting herself to her family and medical practice, MaryAnn dedicated her personal and financial support to dog rescue (primarily abused Pit Bulls) and the humane treatment of animals (and people). She was a proud Liberal and politically active. She was both spiritual and practical. The world has been deprived of a truly special person. She will be profoundly missed.
Survivors include MaryAnn's mother, Esperanza R. Gonzalez, Largo, FL; sister, Stella Gonzalez, Toledo, OH; two brothers, Stephen and wife, Sharon Gonzalez, Riverview, FL, and Patrick Gonzalez, Berkeley, CA; sister-in-law, Karen Gonzalez, Clearwater, FL; and other relatives and many friends. MaryAnn was preceded in death by her father, Antonio; and brother, Donald Gonzalez.
In respect with MaryAnn's wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
