Melroy "Mel" Koeppe, age 90, a resident of Two Rivers, peacefully entered eternal life with family by his side on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at his home.
Mel was born on February 27, 1934 in Rockland, WI to the late Harold and Myrtle (Knudson) Koeppe. He graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1960. On September 8, 1956, Mel married Mari C. Virgili at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2002. On January 29, 2005, Mel married Margaret Becker at St. Peter the Fisherman in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2015. Mel had worked as a Kingsbury beer delivery driver for years. He then went on to work for the City of Two Rivers Fire Department as a firefighter until his retirement. Mel was a dedicated husband and took care of those he loved. When he had some free time, he enjoyed golfing, was blessed to travel the world, and the occasional vodka gimlet. Mel was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews (some of which considered Mel their grandpa), also other relatives and many friends. Mel was preceded in death by sister, Ellie; and brother, Arle Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Johnston will officiate with burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers. Immediately following the memorial service, military rites will be accorded by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
