Melvin M. Krejcarek, age 97, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Melvin was born on February 1, 1920 in the town of Franklin. He was the son of the late Emil and Cathryn (Ledvina) Krejcarek. From 1941 to until the time of his honorable discharge he served with the United States Army. Three of those years were served overseas during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of War. On September 1, 1945 he married Marcella "Marcy" Seidl in Rockford, IL. Melvin was a union bricklayer mason for various construction contractors, retiring in 1983. In 1995 he received his 50 years gold card from the union. He was a very active member in past years at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Melvin is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. During his lifetime Melvin also served as an officer of the Local Mason's Union #11. Melvin is a member of the Otto Oas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #659 where he had served as post commander.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Marcy; three children: Meribeth (John) Roeser, Green Bay; Lt. Col. Ret. Kevin (Chimi) Krejcarek, currently of Japan; Mark (JoAnn) Krejcarek, Manitowoc; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister-in-law: Dorothy Krejcarek, Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Emil and Cathryn Krejcarek; one sister and brother-in-law, and three brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier and Rev. Gerald Foley. Military rites will be accorded by the Otto Oas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #659 at church immediately following the funeral service. After the military honors there will be a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
