Obituary

Merley J. Hack, age 85, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Artisan Assisted Living in Manitowoc.

Merley was born on June 18, 1929 in Two Rivers to the late Elmer and Caroline Arneson Nelson. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. On May 13, 1950, Merley married Frank Hack at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Frank preceded her in death on June 11, 1996. Merley was employed at the French Slipper Shop and at Aluminum Specialty. She enjoyed sewing, painting, doing crafts, playing cribbage and roller skating with Frank. Merley also excelled in the dartball league for more than 27 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Manitowoc.

Survivors include four children: Deborah (Steven) Novy, Newton; Cynthia (Bryan) Olesewski, Manitowoc; David (Karen) Hack, Newton; and Barbara (Jeffrey) Luckow, Whitelaw; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Hablewitz, Jeff Hack, Jon Hack, Rebecca Hack, Shawn and Stephanie Olesewski, Jackie Schwantes and Jamie Meyer, Rachel and Richard Luckow; many great grandchildren; special friend: GaryWick; also other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Caroline Nelson; husband: Frank; son: William Hack; brother: Virgil; two sisters: LaVerne and Ethel; also other family.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Pleier will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:30 p.m. Following the service, a reception for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
