Obituary

Merlin C. Cenefelt, age 89, a resident of Maribel, entered eternal life on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.

Merlin was born on January 29, 1925 in the Town of Cooperstown, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Charles and Alma Kopera Cenefelt. He graduated from Denmark High School with the class of 1942. On November 23, 1946, Merlin married Dorothy Daley at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He was a proud operator of the family farm which in the year 1985 celebrated the 100 year anniversary under the Cenefelt family. Merlin was also a rural mail carrier in Denmark. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, chairman of the church picnic and head of maintenance and grounds of the church property.

Survivors include Merlin's wife of 68 years: Dorothy "Dottie"; two sons: Dale (Mary Beth) Cenefelt, Green Bay; and Donald Cenefelt, Maribel; daughter: Mary Kay (Michael) Grall, Two Rivers; five grandchildren: Carrie (Brad) Richardson, Kelly (Eric) Zeise, Katie (Chad) Fameree, Jennifer (Eric) Swanson, and Kristin (Adam) Keip; eleven great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Cenefelt, Patricia Steeber, Carol Daley, and Bernadine Yanda; also other relatives and friends. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Alma Cenefelt; his twin sister: Marjorie Pearce; three brothers: Royal, Carl, and Earl Cenefelt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Bill O'Brian with entombment to take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at St. James Catholic Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Alfredo Diaz and Nurse Kelly for all the wonderful care through the years. Also special thanks to Aurora VNA Hospice and to the staff at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, especially nurses Larry, Tammy, DeeAnn, and Andrea for all their kindness shown to Merlin and his family.
