Obituary

Michael "Spyder" J. Coppens, age 58, a Manitowoc resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

He was born May 19, 1965 in Dallas, Texas, son of the late Jeremiah and Mary Ann (Sporer) Coppens. Spyder was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Michels Road and Stone until his recent retirement. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers 139. Spyder had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He had a lifelong love of the Dallas Cowboys.

Michael is survived by his three siblings: Joe (Karen) Coppens, David Coppens, and Catherine Coppens; two special nieces: Stephanie Coppens and Nicole (Nigel) Ordiway; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jeremiah and Mary Ann Coppens.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a life celebration social will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc. Mike will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.
