Michael “Mike” William Klackner, a devoted father, beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, cherished son, and respected member of the Manitowoc community, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 27, 1953, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Mike lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Mike graduated from Roncalli High School in 1971, laying the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and care for others. He worked in manufacturing for most of his adult life, demonstrating reliability and diligence in his career. During his retirement years, he worked in transportation, assisted at the Green Bay Packers stadium on game days, and most recently embraced one of his most cherished roles—becoming a caregiver for his grandchildren—a testament to his deep love and devotion to family.
Outside of his professional and family responsibilities, Mike found joy and fulfillment in a variety of interests. He loved gardening and tending to his yard, activities that brought him peace and satisfaction. He enjoyed camping and fishing, taking pleasure in the serenity of nature and the quiet of outdoor pursuits. Time spent with family was always a priority, and Mike’s presence in their lives was a constant source of comfort and joy. Additionally, he generously volunteered his time at Holy Family Memorial Hospital, embodying a spirit of compassion and service. Leisure moments included watching sports and the evening news, reflecting his engagement with the world around him.

He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Michael (Kana) Klackner of Manitowoc, Jason Klackner of Appleton, and Brian (Angie) Klackner of North Aurora, Illinois; his daughter, Sarah (Derek) Koenig of Valders; and his grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Klackner, Cassie Klackner, Kendall Koenig, Kora Koenig, and great-grandchild, Jonah Klackner.
Mike’s legacy also lives on through his brothers, William (Ann) Klackner of Manitowoc, Robert (Susan) Klackner of Kimball, Minnesota, Joseph (Sandy) Klackner of Sheboygan, Donald (Sandi) Klackner of Weldon Springs, Missouri, John (Amanda) Klackner of Washougal, Washington, and Scott (Megan) Klackner of Oak Creek, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his former spouse and mother of his children, Catherine (Kasten) Klackner, along with many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Janet (Trainor) Klackner; and his grandparents, Michael and Lucy Trainor, and William and Theresa Klackner. Their memories remain a cherished part of his story and the foundation of his family’s rich heritage.
