Obituary

Micheal "Honeymoose" J. Huesemann, age 44, a Valders resident, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his home during his recovery from a recent open-heart surgery.

Mike was born August 24th, 1980 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, son of the late Stephen and Cheryl (Becker) Huesemann Sr. He attended Kiel High School in Kiel, Wisconsin, graduating in 1998. While attending high school, Mike was an active member in the show choir as well as jazz band, where he played guitar. In his free time growing up, Mike enjoyed playing his mother's 12-string guitar and helping his family run their farm in the Town of Schleswig. After high school, he attended MSOE and continued his education at Lakeshore Technical College, where he earned certifications that furthered his career in maintenance.

In 2000, Mike met the love of his life, Rachel Rosenbauer.  She awarded him the name of Honeymoose, and it stuck ever since.  He proposed 9 months later and on October 4th, 2003, Mike married Rachel in Kiel. Together, they raised their three children in rural Valders. He has been employed with Johnsonville Sausage since 2000, serving in positions such as plant engineer, maintenance team leader, maintenance planner/inventory control, refrigeration technician, and maintenance technician. In 2012, Mike was awarded the North East Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance All-Star Award. Mike was admired by his coworkers for being calm in the workplace no matter what the situation may have been. He was an extremely hard worker and prided himself in doing everything he could to provide for his family.

Above anything else, Mike was a family man. He enjoyed family camping trips in Crivitz, fishing with his daughter, and golfing with his sons and many friends. He also enjoyed tinkering and working on motorcycles and trucks, and especially loved passing on his mechanical knowledge to his boys. For many years, he was a member of Shadows Bean Bag league in School Hill. Other hobbies include coaching his sons in baseball and football, bowling with Johnsonville friends, and watching the entire slate of NFL games on Sundays with his daughter, making sure not to miss a single snap in a Packer game. Mike will be remembered as a patient teacher, compassionate father and husband, and a wonderful role model to many.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Rachel; three children, Micaela Cheryl, Alexander Micheal, and Logan Randolph; siblings,  Janice Huesemann and Steve Huesemann Jr. (significant other Brandon Klug); mother-in-law, Mary Rosenbauer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary (Dorothy) Rosenbauer, Tracie (Tom) Wurm, Jodi (Dale) Hibbard, Jennifer (Mike) Hablewitz, and Emily (Ernesto) Achor; and his dog, Willow. Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Cheryl Huesemann Sr.; his father-in-law, Randy Rosenbauer; his furry companion, Buddy; and other relatives.
