Mildred A. Hynek, age 97, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Mildred was born on March 4, 1917 in Cooperstown, WI to the late Joseph and Frances Jirikovec Lensmeyer. On October 9, 1937, Mildred married Joseph Hynek Jr. in Milwaukee. Joseph preceded her in death on August 5, 1988. Mildred was employed with Mirro Corporation until her retirement in 1977. She enjoyed spending her time playing cards, bingo, dancing, and travelling - especially to Branson, MO. Mildred was an excellent cook, and everyone loved her potato dumplings. She was a member of WFLA Lodge #20 for over 60 years.
Survivors include Mildred's two children: Sheldon Hynek, Manitowoc; and Janet Alcock, Appleton; six grandchildren: Mike Hynek, Chris Hynek, Lisa (Mike) Willman, Mark Grotback, David (Kami) Grotback, and Julie Vohen; three great grandchildren: Collin Willman, Kelsey Vohen, and Mary Rasmussen; great great granddaughter: Audrey Rasmussen; three sisters: Corrine Dose, Esther Skubal, and Dorothy (Art) Vogel; two sisters-in-law: Janet Lensmeyer and Clara Lensmeyer; brother-in-law: Benny Shimon; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joseph; daughter: Sharon Grotback; grandson: Scott Grotback; two brothers: Joseph and Clarence Lensmeyer; four sisters: Grace Shimon, Florence Herrman, Olive Huinker, and Betty Lakatos; son-in-law: Norman Grotback; daughter-in-law: Marie Hynek; sister-in-law: Lillian Hynek; and four brothers-in-law: Larry Skubal, Ervin Lakatos, Erwin Dose, and Ray Huinker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Beaudry will officiate with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home & Crematory, N. 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
