Mildred M. Lepich, 96, of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at River Woods Place, Manitowoc, under the care of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
She was born on July 21, 1925 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Krish) Bohacek in Manitowoc. Mildred grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1943. She was united in marriage to George Lepich at First Presbyterian Church on May 1, 1948. They were together for 54 years and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2002.
Mildred worked at the Mirro Corporation after she finished high school. Later she worked in the office as a secretary at Huchthausen Hardware Store and was a bookkeeper at Rusty Strauss Excavating for many years until her retirement. She was active in her church and community as well. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and also was involved with church circles and other events for many years. Mildred was a Cub Scout den mother, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and made warm caps and mittens for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. George and Mildred were members of the Lakeshore Snowmobile Club and together participated in many events with the club and the members. They also enjoyed dancing and attended many dances at the armory together as well.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Jane) Lepich; granddaughter, Nancy (Tristan) Pettit and great-grandson, Slater; grandson, Mark (Brenda) Lepich and great-grandchildren, Faith and Dexter; grandson, Randy (Sara) Lepich and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Hannah; grandson, Greg (Amber) Lepich and great-grandchildren, Allegra, Ethan, and Preston; grandson, John (Bridget) Lepich and great-grandchildren, Eric and Cody; grandson, James D. Lepich; daughter, Barbara (Charles) Vogel; grandson, Brett (Stacy) Vogel and great-grandchildren, Jax and Mallory; grandson, Todd Vogel (fiancée, Jenna Keib); granddaughter, Lisa Vogel (fiancé, Nathan C. Frailey Sr.) and his son, Nathan C. Frailey II; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Victor (Rita) Bohacek; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Earl) Bernhardt; and lifelong friends, Idabelle Bloom and Shirley Strauss.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc, with Pastor Warren Kraft of Melnik Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with private burial of the urn in Kossuth Cemetery #1.
