On January 10, 2022, Nancy Helen (Jellison) Crowley died peacefully at home with her husband, Tom Crowley at her side and her dog, Tara nearby.
Nancy was born March 5, 1940 in Chicago to parents, Clarice (Mokstad) and Darrell Jellison. She was a 1958 graduate of Fenger High School in Chicago. She attended Murray State University in Kentucky and graduated from James Ward Thorne School of Nursing of Passavant Hospital in Chicago in 1962.
On August 25, 1962, Nancy married Tom Crowley in Wheaton, Illinois at St. Michael's Church. This year, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Nancy was employed with Holy Family Hospital as a registered nurse and was an integral part of starting their Emergency Department. She was the first woman elected to the Manitowoc Common Council and served for ten years as the 5th Ward alderwoman. Continuing in her path of service, Nancy became a deputy coroner for Manitowoc County. From 1981-2017, Nancy served as the Manitowoc County Emergency Management Director. This career gave her the opportunity to participate in many state task forces.
Nancy organized and ran the St. Paul's Parish Blood Bank, was a member of Catholic Junior League, and served on the LTC Board of Directors. She was actively involved as a volunteer in her parish and children's schools. She had a passion for spending time with her family, gardening, reading, travel, and all animals.
Nancy is survived by husband, Thomas Crowley; and three daughters, Shannon (Jeff) Pritzl, Colleen Crowley, and Kiara (Kevin) Crowley-Oswald. Nancy adored her seven grandchildren, Taylor (Abby) Pritzl, Payton Pritzl, Kieran Crowley-Oswald, Morgan Pritzl, Fiona Crowley-Oswald, and Tomas Crowley. Nancy's entire life, she bossed around her two siblings: Steve (Diane) Jellison and Susan (Tom) Hodson. Nancy is further survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gemma Crowley Smith and Donald Crowley; and nieces and nephews, Craig Smith, Michael Hodson, Jen Klair, Ryan Hodson, Keeley Crowley, Matt Jellison, and Tim Jellison. Preceding Nancy in death were her nephews, Doug Smith, Ryan Crowley, and Danny Smith.
Nancy and Tom have also been host-parents to 13 exchange students from around the world.
Nancy's family would like to thank DaVita Manitowoc Dialysis and her extraordinary caregiver, her husband Tom.
Nancy had a generous heart and touched the lives of many people. Her trailblazing career choices, leadership, and devotion to family are an inspiration to us all.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc, with Rev. Jason Blahnik officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in Nancy's name to the Roncalli Catholic Schools, Manitowoc.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
