Obituary

Norma Catherine (Bianchi) Halverson, 86, of Manitowoc, WI, passed away at her residence with her family present on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She is now at peace in the warm arms of God.

Norma was born on April 9, 1936 to the late Charles Henry and Mildred Catherine (Haggerty) Bianchi in Monongahela, PA. She graduated from Monongahela High School with the class of 1955. On August 16, 1957, Norma married Lawrence Albert Halverson and relocated to Manitowoc, WI. Lawrence preceded her in death on September 14, 1982. Norma became step-mother to Betty Ann and Ricky before she and Lawrence went on to have four children together, Dean, Robin, Allen and Judy. During and after high school, she worked at McCory Five and Dime. In 1972, Norma began working as the Assistant Daycare Director at the Salvation Army of Manitowoc County. She would go on to work 32 years there before retiring in 2004. Norma was a loyal supporter and member of the Salvation Army, where even after retirement, she had many roles. She enjoyed her craft work – especially scrapbooking and card making. Norma also loved her plants and working in her yard.  Above all, Norma enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends – especially her grandchildren.  "Love you once, love you twice, love you more than beans and rice."
