Obituary

On the morning of October 4, in the presence of his loving wife Annie, Paul Brewer stopped breathing after fighting a long battle with dementia and strokes.

Paul was born on June 26, 1943, to Paul Brewer and Gloria Frances (Crossno) Brewer. It was the peak of WW2, and Gloria worked at an ammunition plant in Webster, Louisiana. Tragically, an accident at the plant ended her life in February 1945. Paul was sent to live with his father's parents: David and Era Brewer, who would raise him in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

As a teenager in the late 50's and early 60's, Paul was fascinated by cars. In his older years, he loved going down the list of cars he had owned in his youth that are all classics and collectors now.

Paul earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Biology in 1961.

Not one to sit still and with the whole world ahead of him, he ventured west. He lived in California and Hawaii, working in food science. It was in California, in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, where Paul fell in love with sailing.

Ever the adventurer, he would live in Illinois, New Jersey, Ontario, Canada, Texas, and Wisconsin. He was quick to make friends wherever he went.

After a long, successful career in food science, Paul started his own company, Contract Research Services International, in the mid-'90s. The company was ahead of its time and leveraged the power of the burgeoning internet to make connections in the scientific community.

He would sell the company and, in his 50's began a career in commercial real estate, which he continued doing until retirement and beyond.

Outside of work, Paul was a tinkerer, inventor, and craftsman. He enjoyed woodwork, carpentry, working on cars, clocks and above all, he loved sailing. He seemed most at home on the open water with a friendly wind.

Besides his wife, Annie, Paul is survived by sons David Brewer and Chad Brewer; daughters Shannon Brewer, Kelly Bryant, and Angie Brewer; grandchildren Derek Brewer, Lex Brewer, McKenna Bryant, Morgan Bryant-James, Adyn Dunlap, Arianah Starkey, and Marlin Starkey; great-grandchild Layla-Ann Bryant; siblings, Becky McAdams (Brewer), David Brewer, and Eddie Brewer and Pam Grant (Brewer); and cousins Anya Martin and JoAnn Martin.

Service will be held on Sunday, October 10 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, in Manitowoc, WI, starting at 4 pm until 6 pm. A scattering of ashes will be held at a later date in Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover funeral expenses can be made at gofund.me/80737dde
