Paul James Nessman, 52, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 13, 2021, while working as a caregiver.
Paul was born on December 30, 1968 in Manitowoc. He attended Lincoln H.S. and Louisiana State University where he received his bachelor's degree in International Studies with a minor in Chinese. He found his calling when he began providing live-in care to a family with an autistic son. Paul will be remembered by friends and family for his big heart, generous soul, and his infectious laugh. Paul was a wonderful husband and a great father. He loved his beautiful wife and angel daughters dearly and relished every moment he could spend with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chunmin "Summer" Lang, and his two young daughters, Lila and Leah Nessman, Baton Rouge, LA; also by his mother, Judy (Dirrigle) Nessman, Manitowoc; father-in-law, Enpu Lang and mother-in-law, Guixian Cao, Beijing, China; siblings, Amy Nessman, Manitowoc, Becky (Buddy) Levanetz, Tisch Mills, Dan (Cheryl) Nessman, Manitowoc, Mandy Nessman, Two Rivers; nieces and nephews, Cory Nessman, Julia Gauthier, Danny Nessman, Katrina Nessman, Vanessa Nessman, Michael Nessman, Dylan Nessman, Wyatt Levanetz, Claire Levanetz, Quincy O'Connor, Jack Kitzmann, Eliana Nessman, Joseph Johnson, and Nola Kitzmann. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory R. Nessman; sister, Cynthia A. Nessman; and nephew, Zachary B. Nessman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Family and friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation will take place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel following services. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com .
While all are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul's life, the family asks that you do so safely and will understand if you are unable to attend because of current pandemic conditions.
