Obituary

Paul K. Peterson, age 67, a resident of Manitowoc, WI passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Paul was born on December 26, 1944 in Calumet, MI to the late Raymond and Helen Hilden Peterson. He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1962 and from Michigan Tech University in 1974. On July 8, 1967, Paul married Christina Werner in Calumet, MI. In 1975, Paul and his family moved to Manitowoc. He was employed with Manitowoc Company as a Computer Systems Analyst and retired in 2002.
Paul was proud of his Finnish heritage. He loved living in the Upper Peninsula and considered himself a displaced Yooper. He was a writer, artist, storyteller, and nature lover. Gardening and cooking were two of Paul's passions, but the true joy of his life were his five grandsons.

Survivors include Paul's wife of 45 years: Christina "Chris" Peterson; daughter and son-in-law: Heidi and Paul Simonar, Manitowoc; five beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Daniel, David and John; sister: Patricia Mallgren, Menominee, MI; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Deacon Rich Bahnaman will officate and burial of Paul's cremated remains will take place in Upper Michigan next summer. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to thank Dr. Giriyappa, Dr. Yetter, the staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, and the doctors and 3rd floor staff of Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
