Peter O. Emmert, age 72, a resident of Manitowoc entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his residence following a short courageous battle against cancer.
Pete was born on May 30, 1938 in Wausau to the late Dudley Emmert and Mary Pickett. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1956, and then continued his education at Lakeland College. On September 28, 1963, Pete married Janet F. Gulseth at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc where he is a member. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Pete lived his life to the fullest by doing things on his own terms and in his own way. He loved his lake property and spending time there with family and friends. Owning his own business, Snow Country, was an important part of his life. Pete enjoyed spending time at the Manitowoc Yacht Club with his family and friends. The simple things in life he enjoyed were cutting the lawn with his John Deere lawn mower, playing fetch and cruising around with his dog Rocco, watching the Chicago Bears and doing it all with a can of Sun Drop.
Survivors include his wife: Janet; one sister: Lisa Emmert, Homestead, FL; four children: Bradley (Lori) Emmert, Nashotah; Todd (Brenda) Emmert, Manitowoc; Christine (Dan) Schetter, Neenah; and Jodie (Josh) Mrotek, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren: Maximus Emmert, Kyra Emmert, Alexa Emmert, Elizabeth Emmert, Abigail Emmert, Zackery Emmert, Brandyn Schetter and Jessica Schetter; his dog, Rocco; also other relatives and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter: Danielle Marie Emmert.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2601 S. 10th Street, Manitowoc from 9 am until the time of the funeral service at noon. The Rev. Brian Staude will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
A special thanks to all of Pete's family and friends for their care and support during this difficult time.
