Obituary

Randall L. Waniger, age 55, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Randy was born on September 1, 1960 in Manitowoc to Charles Waniger and the late Lois Carstens Waniger. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1978. On May 11, 1985, Randy married Lori Nelson at First Presbyterian Church in Manitowoc. He had worked at Frito Lay for 32 years until his retirement in 2015. Randy had also worked many years part-time at North Shore Warehouse. In 2008 when the business was sold, he purchased partial ownership and continued to work there. Randy enjoyed his trips to Cabo San Lucas with family and friends, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. Above all, Randy enjoyed being with his family.

Survivors include Randy's wife of 30 years: Lori; two sons: Eric Waniger, Hobart; and David "D.J." Waniger, Green Bay; father: Charles Waniger, Manitowoc; two brothers: Rick Waniger and Brian Waniger, both of Manitowoc; sister: Lori (Andrew) Brey, Manitowoc; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Captain Albert and Diane Nelson, Manitowoc; sister-in-law: Lynn (Randy) Kirt, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law: David (Eileen) Nelson, Tampa, FL; and Steven (Stephanie) Nelson, Waddell, AZ; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Waniger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The visitation will continue on Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorials to Milwaukee Children's Hospital - earmarked for cancer research, Mayo Clinic - earmarked for pancreatic cancer research, or the Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Two Rivers.

Randy and his family greatly appreciated Dr. Glenn Smith, Dr. Andrew Yetter, Dr. John Bosco, and all of their staff for the care and compassion they provided – thank you all very much!
