Raul M. Maertz, age 79, of Manitowoc, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on September 14, 2022, with family by his side.

Raul was born September 1, 1943, son of the late Wilbur and Isabel (Folletz) Maertz. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1961. On October 5, 1963 he married the former Karen A. Najmayer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He was employed with Mirro Foley for 36 years until his retirement.

Raul was known for his love of fishing, his nickname to many was Rauleye. He was also an avid stamp and coin collector, which he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. Many of his other interests were golfing, shooting pool, and playing cards with his family on a Sunday afternoon. Raul also loved spending time with his cats, Spanky, Molly, Cocoa, Missy, and Daisy.

Raul is survived by his wife: Karen; son: Mark (Karen) Maertz of Two Rivers; daughters: Lisa Maertz (special friend Mindi Kis) of Manitowoc, Amy Peterman (special friend Jesse Klein) of Manitowoc, and Jodi (Aaron) Novak of Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Brittany, Amber, Katlyn, Samantha, Kamber, Emmah, Evann, and Jamison; seven great-grandchildren: Brielle, Jaxon, Atticus, Zoey, AJ, Ethen, and Raelynn; two sisters: Leola (Edward) Schilling of Fond du Lac, and Ruth Wood of Abrams; and brother-in-law: Tony Jowell, of Manitowoc. Numerous nieces and nephews and their families, as well as Raul's golfing buddy, Ron, also survive.

Raul was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Sheila Duellman; and eight siblings.

In respect with the family's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.

The family will be having a celebration of life at Bar-None, 3025 WI-310, Two Rivers, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Raul's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Team and the Cancer Care Center for all their compassion during his last days.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the Maertz family with funeral arrangements.
