Richard “Dick” V. Klein, age 94, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 at his home, with his loving wife Pat at his side, on their 40th wedding anniversary.

Dick was born March 8, 1932 in Manitowoc, son of the late Valentine and Mollie Klein. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Following high school, Dick proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at the A&P store for two years then took a job with Wisconsin Electric Co. He moved to Port Washington where he became active in politics, serving two years on the county board and sixteen years as an alderman. He also served as commander of American Legion Post 82, Commander of Ozaukee Leatherneck Club, Vice President of Local 317 Operating Engineers and charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. In 1956 he married the former Audrey Ahrens, mother of his five children. In 1986 he married Pat (Trish) Fisher. They bought a cottage in Langlade County where they enjoyed many family get togethers as well as ATV and snowmobiling riding. They also enjoyed vocations in Biloxi, Mississippi, The Villages, Florida, and Mexico. After retiring in 1993 they moved back to Manitowoc. He was asked to join “Gramps” golf league that turned out to be a great time. One of the highlights was getting a hole-in-one.

Dick is survived by the love of his life: Pat Klein; his children: Teri (Tom) Wagner, Lisa (Randy) Nothem, DeAnne “Dee Dee” (Steve) Binversie, Bob (Sherri) Klein, and Chris (Sarah) Klein; his step-children: Mike (Jill) Fisher, Mary Mattson, Tom Fisher (Jody Kunish), and Sara (John) Duzeski; his grandchildren: Adam (Emily) Nothem, Bryan Nothem, Katie Charnon (Fiancé Robbie), Taylor Wagner, Austin Wagner, Molly Klein (Marcus), Jessy Klein, Lauren Binversie (Fiancé Kyle), Rhys Klein, and James Klein; his step-grandchildren: Jason (Kirsten) Christiansen, Chad (Kate) Christiansen, Brianna Mattson, Clint Duzeski, Brent (Kasey) Duzeski, and Trisha (Alex) Vandenplas; his great-grandchildren: Trey Charnon, Londynn, Hudson, and Charlotte Christiansen, Derek, Grant, Nolin, and Koltin Duzeski, Ellie Wagner, Finley and Orrin Christiansen, and Angus Nothem. Coming from a large family, Dick is also survived by sisters: Beverley Lochka, Darlene (Don) Eisenshink, and Sandra Sprang; one sister-in-law: June Klein; one brother-in-law: Allen (Judy) Stryzewski; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Husk and Sr. Mary Clarette Stryzewski.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters in infancy, his sisters: Bette (Joe) Sleger and Bonnie Mott; his brother: Rick Klein; brothers-in-law: Alan Petri, Jack Lochka, Rod Husk, and Roger Sprang; a son-in-law: Brent McIntyre; and a loving grandson: Eric Nothem.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2601 S. 10th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Heather Yerion-Keck. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 88 of Manitowoc. Dick will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Dick’s name to local veterans groups.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
