Obituary

Richard C. Gengler, age 80, a resident of Reedsville, passed away with family by his side on Friday, November 26, 2021, at his residence.

Richard was born on March 4, 1941, in Milwaukee to the late William and Agnes (Funk) Gengler. He graduated from Freedom High School. Richard enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas for three years in Germany. He worked as a papermaker for more than 30 years and proudly served as Union President for several years. On June 5, 1984, Richard married Karen Fehrman. They tended a farm in Grimms for 37 years and the farm was Richard's pride and joy. Richard was a proud Democrat and a fan of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking chicken over the campfire using his secret family recipe. He also loved his beloved English Shepherd dogs, and he would always say they're the best dogs in the world. His loyal terrier, Sly, stayed by his side till the end.

Survivors include Richard's wife of 37 years, Karen; six children, Vaughn (Trina) Haberland, Reedsville; Laurie (Dan) Schmitz, Neenah; Dustin (Cheryl) Haberland, Manitowoc; Shane (Sarah) Haberland, Whitelaw; Bethanie Gengler, Menasha; Valorie Genger and her significant other, Joseph Owens, Manitowoc; son-in-law Ryan Schmitt, Kaukauna; daughter-in-law Cindy Gengler, Little Chute; seven grandchildren, Heather Haberland, Kenny Haberland, Alexandria Athey, Lauren Schmitz, Luke Schmitz, Skylar Gengler, and Allissa Haberland; five siblings, Darlene (Scott) Lewis, Walnut Creek, CA; Barbara Grissom, Green Bay; William (Donna) Gengler, Hilbert; Jack (Lorie) Gengler, King; and David Gengler, Sturgeon Bay; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes Gengler; daughter, Rebecca Schmitt; and son, Paul Gengler.

In respect of Richard's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life will take place later in 2022. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
