Obituary

Richard M. Humpal, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, formerly of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, entered eternal life unexpectedly Tuesday evening, December 9, 2014 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, WI

Richard Max Humpal was born on September 5, 1935 in Forest Township, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Wenzel and Alice (Heibel) Humpal. Richard grew up in the Cedar Lake area and was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church. He attended White Birch Elementary School and was a graduate of Clear Lake High School with the class of 1953. In 1954 he married Lorene Hermanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they made their home in Clayton, Wisconsin and raised their two sons, Lonnie and Ronnie. During the next several years Richard and his family lived in the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota area where he worked as a building contractor. In 1978 Richard moved to Mukilteo, Washington and continued to build homes there until he retired. In his spare time Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. Richard was an active member and elder at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Edmonds, Washington. Richard and his wife Lorene have lived in Manitowoc for the past eight years.

He is survived by his wife: Lorene; two sons: Lonnie (Jadis) Humpal, Sedro Woody, WA; Ronnie Humpal, Sequim, WA; two grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Humpal, Lakeville, MN; Brian (Susanne) Humpal, White Bear Lake, WI; two great grandchildren: Ethan and Vincent Humpal; one sister: Ellen Weide, Roseville, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wenzel and Alice Humpal; two brothers: Wenzel "Bunny" Humpal and Robert Humpal; one daughter-in-law: Vickie Humpal.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Moe Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, WI. Officiating will be Rev. Margaret Grant with burial to follow at Moe Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.

A private gathering for the family was held on Sunday evening at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
