Richard "Dick" L. Witczak, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay.
He was born October 27, 1936 in Manitowoc, son of the late Harry and Lorraine (Keil) Witczak. Dick graduated from Lincoln High School. He married Sonja Maruga on August 2, 1958. He was employed at Sorge's Dairy, Lake to Lake, and Cher-Make Sausage. Dick was an active sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing and officiating various sports over the years. He was a WIAA official and also worked with the Manitowoc Recreation Department, Special Olympics, Kenny's Athletic Association, Patty's Lounge Athletic Club, and played softball for numerous area teams.
Survivors include his wife: Sonja Witczak; three sons: Scott (Linda) Witczak, Mark Witczak (special friend Roslyn Faken), and Paul Witczak; five grandchildren: Kayla, Dillon (Sierra), Jordan, Susan, and Joseph; four great-grandchildren: Aria, Jade, Josie, and Cashton; two sisters: Diane (Dave) Sleger and Pat Shack (Significant other John Jones); as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three children: Michael, Steven, and Susan; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Stephen and Theresa (Behnke) Maruga; and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21 st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Matt Colle concelebrated by Deacon Alan Boeldt. Following the Mass, Dick will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc.
Following the burial, a luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, located at 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc.
