Obituary

Richard "Dick" Stock, age 73, a resident of Newton, entered eternal life on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his residence.

Richard was born on July 22, 1944 in Manitowoc to the late Arnold and LaVerne (Vogel) Stock. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1962. On September 3, 1966, Richard married Ludene Sweetman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2013. Richard had served in the Newton Volunteer Fire Department from September 1962 to June of 1984 and was the Fire Chief from 1979 to 1983. Richard grew up working along side his father at A.H. Stock Manufacturing, Corp., and served as President from 1981 to present. He was also co-owner of Stock's Dinner Club until it's closing. Richard enjoyed collecting model trains, deer hunting, trips to the casino, cruising around in his Polaris Ranger, going to their cottage in Door County, and above all, Richard enjoyed spending his time with family and friends – especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include Richard's two sons, Dan (Donna) Stock and David "Duff" (Jennifer) Stock, all of Newton; four grandchildren, Josie, David, Emalee and Erica; brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Ron (Audrey) Sweetman, Sturgeon Bay, and Sue Stock, Manitowoc; and very good friends, Terry (Marilyn) Tuschel, Manitowoc, and Dale (Nancy) Cherney, Howards Grove; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and LaVerne Stock; wife, Ludene; and two brothers, Don Stock and Arnold Stock, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Beaudry will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., and then also on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Richard's name.

Richard's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Newton First Responders and Fire Department, Manitowoc Rescue, Sherriff's Departments and Coroner's Office for everything they did at the time of Richard's passing.
