Richard Claude Vraney, age 82, a resident of Two Rivers, entered eternal life on January 4, 2015 at the Milwaukee Veteran's Medical Center.
Dick was born on February 14, 1932 in Manitowoc to the late John and Florence Kubel Vraney. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Immediately following graduation, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. In May of 1951, Dick completed his Air Training Command and specialized in Airmen Electronics and Radar Mechanics. When he left the Kessler Air Force Base, Dick was stationed at the Aleution Islands, and then returned to Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH where he served until his honorable discharge. He then moved to Harrisburg, PA where he owned and operated his own home repair business. Dick then retired in 1999 and returned to the Manitowoc area to be closer to his family. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and helping with general repairs for his family.
Survivors include Dick's brother: Dale Vraney, Two Rivers; sister: Marian Flint, Manitowoc; step-granddaughter: Tammy (Bill) Schaffer, LyKens, PA; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents: John and Florence Vraney, and brother-in-law: Bill Flint.
Military rites will be accorded by members of V.F.W. Post #1248 and American Legion #165 of Two Rivers at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.
