Robert J. Hibbard, age 90, a resident of Plymouth, and formerly of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Bob was born on July 7, 1926 in Manitowoc to the late Jerome and Lillian Schweigl Hibbard. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1944. In October of 1943, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an Aviation Machinist Mate, 2nd Class until his honorable discharge in 1946. Bob then served with the Two Rivers National Guard as a Master Sergeant from 1949 to 1953. On August 21, 1948, Bob married the former Regina E. Meier at Rockwood Ev. Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2007. They resided in New Holstein from late 1953 to 1974 when they moved to the Branch area. Bob was a sheet metal technician, a former member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 18. He had been employed with local sheet metal shops as well as Household Utilities, Kiel. He retired in 1988 from Lakeside Machine Shop, Inc. Bob enjoyed spending his time deer hunting, musky fishing with his friends, being outdoors, going on bus trips and travelling with his wife and relatives, golfing, watching the Brewers and Packers, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc where he was a past member of the church council, finance committee and an usher. He was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth where he enjoyed attending Bible class.
Survivors include Bob's three children, Brad (Stacey) Hibbard, Plymouth; Deb (Leonard) Bricker, Rogue River, OR; and Brian Hibbard and his significant other Kathleen, Pound; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Francis Hibbard, Manitowoc; three brothers, Lee Hibbard, Richard Hibbard, and Rodney (Nancy) Hibbard, all of Manitowoc; also other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Cynthia Scapellato; brother, Roland Hibbard; and sister, Carole Reseburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on April 5, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Nathan Meador will officiate with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
