Obituary

Robert A. Johnston, age 80, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born on January 28, 1944 in Pensacola, FL to the late Ashley and Gussie (Wilson) Johnston.  On August 20, 1965, Bob married Donna Mae Hinze at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers.  He had worked as a truckdriver (call name: Alabama Wildman) for over 40 years and owned and operated his own company, Johnston Trucking.  Bob enjoyed riding Harleys, hunting, racing and working on cars, the occasional whiskey sour, and playing cards and shooting pool with his grandsons.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends – especially his grandsons, who meant the world to him.  Whether discussing who was the best shot, who the favorite was, Bob was often heard talking about his grandsons.

Survivors include Bob's wife of 59 years, Donna; two daughters, Shellie (Neal) Jacquart and Wendy (Joe) Hutterer; three grandsons, Chad Jacquart and his special friend, Hannah, Jared Hutterer and his significant other, Cassie, and Luke (Erika) Hutterer; great grandson, Zander Hutterer; three brothers, Johnny (Gloria) Johnston, Aaron Johnston, and Jimmy Johnston; two sisters-in-law, Connie Gilbert and her significant other, Glenn, and Tammy (Roger) Schmidt; brother-in-law, Dale (Kathy) Hinze; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley and Gussie Johnston, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Warden and Edna Lau; and sister, Ann (Don) Kornatowski.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc with Rev.
