Robert
Klokow
August 10, 1940 – October 7, 2022
Robert "Bobby" Klokow, aka "Das Bobber", "Bratwurst Bob" passed away on October 7, 2022 at Two Rivers Aurora Medical Center. His final hours were spent listening to Gunsmoke with his compassionate bedside hospice RN, Jason.
He was born on August 10, 1940 to Karl and Isabel Klokow. Being an only child, he found friendship with animals at an early age: his pony blackie, pet dogs, many barn cats and relative's farm animals. As he grew up, his friendships and escapades revolved around sporting buddies from Howards Grove schools. He attended Lakeland College, served in the United States Army, and worked for many decades as a lithographer at the Herald Times Reporter in Manitowoc. He was also a proud union representative. Bob enjoyed following the Brewers over the air waves and in person. Taking his family and friends to St. Anne's Supper Club for dinner was a regular pastime that he looked forward to. Frying out every Sunday was his favorite activity. He was very generous and would round up the neighbor kids for go-carting, fast food, pinball at the local tavern, Betty's farm to watch milking, burgers at Schoenemann's, the list is truly endless.
He befriended those who were going through hard times, and "adopted" them and supported them to the best of his abilities. Keeping his yards well "clipped", whether by a push mower or a rider in his later years, was also a passion. He found love with Loyce and enjoyed traveling to her hometown in Nocona, Texas for family reunions with her mother Charlotte and her many siblings and families. He even picked up their accent in that short time.
He outlived most of his hometown buddies and relatives. As he entered his eighties, he preferred to remain in his overly warm house watching television, making grocery lists and talking on his challenging cell phone with his buddy Teddy, or whoever was free (at the moment he called), anytime of the day or night. He even became a regular viewer of Jimmy Swaggart reruns during his final years in Edwards.
He is already missed, but he follows his parents and his wife Loyce, Aunt Elinor, special friend Mickey, Blackie, Spotty, Lucky, Tucker, Angel, and Buddy, onto his next adventure, free from any physical limitations. Or possibly to the Bob Uecker outfield in the sky. But only if it is in the cheap section, with an obstructed view and a $1 hot dog. And a mile hike for free parking. That is where he will finally be hitting homers again. (And Bobby Laack will most definitely be pitching.) Not The End….
Robert is survived by his two daughters: Kristine (Michael) Williams and Karla Klokow-Phillips (Rance Jones); six grandchildren: Abra and Chase Williams, Karlee Phillips, and Isabella, Elizabeth, and Manny Lopez.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc, and per Robert's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
