Robert G. Wickert, age 80, a resident of Crest View Acres, Marion, Iowa, entered eternal life on Monday evening, June 22, 2015 at Crest View Acres.
Bob was born on May 27, 1935 in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. He was the son of the late Edward L. and Grace Lambries Wickert. Bob was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1953. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Extension-Manitowoc receiving his Associates Degree in Business Administration. Bob served three years in the United States Army-Infantry and Airborne Schools at Fort Benning, Georgia and was later stationed at Banberg, Germany for 23 months. After his honorable discharge Bob returned to Manitowoc and became employed from 1960 to 1980 with Manitowoc Engineering Company. During those twenty years of employment, Bob worked in the assembly shop, test and load area, experimental shop and contract sales departments. In 1981 he became employed with Link-Belt Crane Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as Manager of Large Crane Product Development. In 1991 Bob retired and became involved in the antique automobile business.
Bob was a member of The 3rd Infantry Warriors Club and The National Antique Automobile Club.
He is survived by one nephew: William Narten, Manitowoc; Godchild and grandnephew: Scott Narten, Manitowoc; one grandniece: Elizabeth Narten, Minneapolis, MN; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Grace Wickert; his wife: Ann (Pryor) Wickert; sister and brother-in-law: Fern and Kurt Narten.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Calvary Mausoleum, 2601 South 14th Street, Manitowoc, WI. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment to follow at the mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m.
