Roger Louis Krueger, Sr., age 83, a Manitowoc resident, formerly of Cecil, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 07, 2011 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Roger was born on July 27, 1928 in Bonduel to the late Elmer and Elsie Dingeldien Krueger. On September 3, 1950, Roger married Edna Maedke in Kolberg. Edna preceded him in death on April 23, 2010. Roger served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He drove for Schneider Transport in Manitowoc for 33 years. Roger and Edna owned and operated Krueger's Greenhouse on West Custer Street in Manitowoc for more than 25 years. Roger enjoyed collecting Depression glass, attending auctions, traveling in their fifth wheel, and wintering and gold panning in Arizona. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, Gold Prospectors Association of America, and Lost Dutchman's Mining Association.
Survivors include one son: Roger (Darleen) Krueger, Jr., Mishicot; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother: Fritz (Arbutus) Krueger, Seymour; sister-in-law: Mavis Krueger, Pulaski; aunt: Ruth Young, Kimberly; brother-in-law: Gary (Marilyn) Maedke, Algoma; three sisters-in-law: Mildred Jaeger, Two Rivers; Violet Kumbalek, Manitowoc; and Ruby (Eddie) Mueller, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by one son: Donald Krueger; two granddaughters: Rogene and Doneen Krueger; three brothers and one sister.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc from 4 pm until the time of the funeral service at 6 pm. The Rev. David Rosenow will officiate with burial to follow during a private committal service at Knollwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to a memorial fund which will be established in Roger's name.
