Obituary

Ronald "Uncle Thirsty" Hablewitz, age 75, of 1902 Western Avenue, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Monday afternoon, December 6, 2010 at the family residence with family by his side.

Ron was born on October 11, 1935 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Elmer and Lillian Decker Hablewitz. Ron was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He then entered the United States Navy serving his country for two years. After being honorably discharged he returned to Manitowoc and did masonry work as a union journeyman. Ron had also owed and operated Uncle Thirsty's Bar in Manitowoc. He married Sally Simonar at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1985. He later married Judith Koch on April 8, 1988 at St. John's United Church of Chirst, Manitowoc. Ron was a member of the Manitowoc Elk's Club, Kenny's Hall of Fame where he had served as President in past years and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aeries #706. Ron enjoyed golfing, hunting and in past years playing fastpitch softball.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years: Judi; three children: Randy (Linda) Hablewitz, Manitowoc, and their children: Alison Habelwitz and her two sons, Masen and Marshall; Adam (Sara) Hablewitz and Alexis Hablewitz; Heidi Jo (Chuck) Dehney, Manitowoc, and her daughter, Hailey Mrotek; John Hablewitz, Manitowoc; stepchildren: Kraig Vetting; Kari Vetting and her two daughters, Megan and Heather; Kristi (Mike) Tuesburg and their children: Joshuah and his son Jacob; Kenneth, Dustin, Emma-Jean, Michaela; Kim (John) Licht and their children Crystal and her daughter, Sierra; Tiffany and her daughter, Ella; Noah and Kendra; Kelli Tice and her children, Karissa Herrmann, Taylor and David Tice; two brothers: Richard (Sandra) Hablewitz, Whitelaw; Robert (Sue) Hablewitz, Manitowoc; one sister: Ruthanne Walker, Chippewa Falls, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Sally in 1985; son-in-law: Rick Mrotek; brother-in-law: Paul Walker; grandson: Kasey Herrmann.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Deacon Tom Koch. Cremation will follow the funeral services and burial of the cremains will take place at a later date at Knollwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30.
