Rose F. Polivka's Obituary
Rose Frances Polivka, age 98, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday afternoon, February 28, 2011 at the care center where she resided for the past 8 years.
Rose was born on August 5, 1912 in Bell County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Rosie Tomastik Kristinek. She was raised in Bell County and attended schools in Little Elm and Oscar, Texas. On April 13, 1946 she married Harvey L. Polivka in Temple, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1995. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Manitowoc. Rose was a member of SPJST Lodge #47, Seaton, Texas. She received a Certificate of Recognition from SPJST in 2008 for attaining the "Grand Age of 96". Rose and Harvey enjoyed traveling to their cottage in Townsend, Wisconsin and to Texas to visit family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially her grandchildren. Rose was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Playing bingo with friends was one of her favorite activities.
She is survived by two children: Rose Marie (Jim) Meyer, Two Rivers, WI; Harvey (Mary) Polivka, Jr., Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Michelle (Jason) Pukita; Patricia (Michael) Goetzman; Jonathan Meyer; one great granddaughter: Alyssa Rose Pukita; one sister-in-law: Miladie Kristinek, Temple, Texas; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harvey; four brothers: Frankie, Otto, Ernest Sr., and William Kristinek; three sisters: Kristina Bartek, Mary Bartek and Lenora Talasek.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Foley officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all present and past nurses, aides, and staff at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, especially 3rd floor, for all the friendship, care and compassion extended to Rose and her family.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
