Obituary

Ruth Arndt, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at River Woods Place. Ruth lived there happily since August of 2011 where she made many new friends.

A lifelong resident of Manitowoc, she graduated from Lincoln High School and then worked at Mirro Aluminum where she met her husband Paul whom she married in 1951.  He preceded her in death on May 28, 2015. Ruth had aspired to work at Disney and use her artistic talents to help create their animations, but her father died unexpectedly and she remained home to help her mother and younger siblings.  Ruth went on to express her creativity through fabric and food where she excelled at both. She spent time involved with her church, passionately creating banners and decorations.  In 1972, Ruth survived breast cancer.  She went on to live a full and happy life.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Linn of California; step brother, Melvin (Janice) Schack of Florida; her loving daughter, Janis Arndt; son-in-law, Gerald Burns; son, Jeffery Arndt; also grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Tittl Schack; father, Ludwig Tittl; husband, Paul Arndt; step father, William Schack; brothers, Siegfried, Clarence and Fredrick Tittl.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at River Woods Place for their kindness and compassion in the last seven years of Ruth's life, especially Stacy who was there for her entire stay and special friends, Mike and Ike.   Ruth loved riding the bus to shop and to chat about food with the staff and residents. We also wish to thank Tom and Julie Tittl and Jim and Pat Keil for their love and support through the years.  We are grateful to Dawn, Gerrie and Kevin at Hermening financial and Don Wollersheim at Lakeshore Accounting for their gentle wisdom and guidance.  Thanks also to Southern Care Hospice who helped Ruth transition from this life.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Ruth's cremated remains to be at Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com .

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11 th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of memorials we wish you to spend time with your family and simply share a meal or a toast in honor of Ruth.

"This is the day which the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Ruth painted this on the wall above her kitchen window where she spent many happy hours.
