Ruth H. Hopkins, age 93, a resident of River Woods Place in Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Ruth was born on August 10, 1920 in the Town of Newton to the late Frederick and Zilla Rodewald Stockmeier. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1939. On October 6, 1945, Ruth married Warren E. Hopkins in the Town of Newton. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1981. After Ruth was married, the family moved to Manitowoc in 1948. She was employed by Manitowoc County as the secretary for the County Nurses for 21 years. More recently, Ruth was employed at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church as the church secretary. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and the church choir, Women of ELCA, and was an active member with the Manitowoc Senior Center.
Survivors include Ruth's two daughters: Janet (Donald) Vogt, Manitowoc; and Sharon (Kenneth) Tienor, Brillion; four grandchildren: Shelly (Porfirio) Ramirez, Lt. Col. Brian (Kimberly) Vogt, Corey (Sara) Tienor, and Jon (Jodi) Vogt; nine great grandchildren: Emily Vogt, Allison Vogt, Alec Vogt, Evan Vogt, Maggie Tienor, Sophia Tienor, Mason Tienor, Kai Ramirez, and Jax Ramirez; step-great granddaughter: and Danielle (Rick) Jefferson; step great great grandson: Julian; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Warren; two brothers: Reinhold and Rev. Leonard; and two sisters: Florence and Althea.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 2601 S. 10th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Brian Staude will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
