Sandy Kortens, age 67, a lifelong resident of Rockwood, entered eternal life Friday evening, December 22, 2017 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Sandy was born July 14, 1950 in Green Bay. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Agnes Krizek Miller Sr. Sandy attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1968. On October 4, 1969 she married Robert Kortens at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took great joy in working in her flower gardens and even more joy in her lifelong dedication to child care. She started watching children in 1974 until poor health forced her to retire in 2010. Sandy was never happier than when she was with her family and playing with her grandchildren. In past years Sandy enjoyed bowling, camping, playing volleyball, and taking family vacations. She was the head of the Religious Education Program at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Francis Creek for over ten years. Her kitchen was always open for a cup of coffee and conversation.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years: Bob; four children: Jacob (Kim) Kortens, Manitowoc; Jena (David) Foster, Manitowoc; Joshua (Emily) Kortens, Manitowoc; Jed (Imelda) Kortens, San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren: Grace, Emily, Logan, Max, Hudson, Jackson, Maryjane, and Jessica; eight brothers and sisters: Vincent (Sandra) Miller Jr., Manitowoc; Sue Moistner, Whitelaw; Larry (Donna) Miller, Manitowoc; Michael (Gail) Miller, Branch; Thomas (Terry) Miller, Two Creeks; Myron (Judy) Miller, Whitelaw; Randy (Janet) Miller, Denmark; and Sheila Miller, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Agnes Miller Sr.; and two sisters: Sharon and Shelly.
A memorial visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. lead by Mr. Keith Nelson followed by shared memories with those in attendance. A private family memorial service will be held Wednesday morning, December 27, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Mr. Keith Nelson with family participation followed by a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
