Obituary

Scott Arthur Westlund, age 78, entered eternal life early Saturday morning, November 23, 2024. He was the second of five children born to Roberta (Spooner) and Gordon (Ben) Westlund in Rusk County, Wisconsin, on February 13, 1946. From a young age, Scott developed a deep interest in agriculture, beginning his first job on a dairy farm at 13 years old. He graduated from Tony High School in 1964 and soon after started his working career.

Over the years, Scott became known for his charisma and salesmanship, thriving in various roles. His career included owning a convenience store, managing a pop factory in Mineral Point, and working as a lumberyard manager at Woolohans in Green Bay. His entrepreneurial spirit led to him starting "Scott's Home Improvement" in 1978 in New Holstein, Wisconsin, and later acquiring an ABC seamless franchise that served a four-county territory. Scott's personal life was equally rich. On July 23, 1967, he married his best girl and soulmate, Judy (Kaul) Westlund, in Milwaukee. They shared a fulfilling life together, welcoming their only daughter, Jennifer Jane, on June 2, 1974. The couple moved several times, including a return to Rusk County in 1981, where they dairy farmed for several years before settling back in the Manitowoc area. In 2016, Scott lost his beloved Judy to cancer, a loss that left a profound mark on him. In recent years, Scott formed a special friendship with Sandy, which brought him comfort and joy. Scott's favorite pastime was talking on the phone, often spending hours connecting with family, friends, neighbors, and business associates. His conversations were full of warmth, humor, and stories, leaving a lasting impression on all who spoke with him.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Jane (Thom) and her husband Matthew; two grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth (Maxx Liebig) and Dominic William-Scott; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Drew and Debbie (Westlund), Kirk and Donna (Westlund), Dave & Laurie (Lemke), Bruce & Marge (Evjen), Bill & Sharon (Kaul) and brother-in-law, Merle Ziegler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends, including Lonnie, Bob, & Dan, Russ and Sherry, Len & Pam, Bartelsons, Mary Lou & Eileen. He will be greatly missed by his hardworking employees at Scott's Home Improvement.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Roberta Westlund; his in-laws, Franklin and Jean (Kaul); his brother-in-law, Frank Jr. (Butch) Kaul; his sister, Sharon Ziegler; his brother, Tyrus Westlund; and his nephew, Matthew Westlund.

The family extends special thanks to the coroner of Manitowoc County for their assistance during this difficult time. Scott's legacy will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, his unshakeable work ethic, and his ability to make anyone feel like a friend. May he rest in peace.
