Sharon L. Carey passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at age 87. Sharon was born to Lucille (Hanson) and Ivan King on August 19, 1937, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she grew up and graduated from high school. In 1955, Sharon married Richard Carey and they had five children. She went on to own her own restaurant in Indiana, and directed and led YMCA exercise classes. In her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts, especially molding and painting pottery. She loved to polka and gamble at the casinos. In her last remaining years, Sharon liked to play games and do puzzles with her friends at Regency House Apartments.
Sharon is survived by her son Steve Carey of Arkansas; daughters Indre Young of Wisconsin and Ruth Edgar of Arizona; grandchildren David Howlett, Sydney Carey, Danielle Carey, Shayne Young, Kyzer Carey, Karsten Carey, Arabella Carey, Faith Edgar, Jayce Carey, and Carson Herron; great-grandchildren Aleyah and Isaiah Herron, and Aiden Howlett and Audrey Deskins; sisters Beverly Schulke of Wisconsin, Sandra King of Wisconsin, and Ellen Avaraton of Montana; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Lucille King; sons Daniel Mark Carey and Russel Dean Carey; and former husband Richard Carey.
Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel. Private services were held. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.
