Shirley A. Sabin, age 87, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Shirley was born at home on December 19, 1929 in Polo, IL to the late John Ellis Morden and Ruth Lucille (Walters) Morden. She went to kindergarten in Polo, IL, and when her father was transferred to Freeport, IL, she attended schools there until graduating from high school with the class of 1948. On August 30, 1948, Shirley married Bill Sabin at St. Joseph Church in Freeport, IL. Bill preceded her in death on May 1, 2011. They moved to Rockford, IL and then work brought them to Manitowoc. Shirley had been employed at Federal Mogul for 11 years and was the first hourly person to retire from there.
Survivors include Shirley's three children, Cynthia Rudolf, Bradenton, FL; Lori (Dennis) Klaas, Roscoe, IL; and Bill (Tina) Sabin, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, Melvin (Melinda) Robar, Amie (Ronnie) Wingate, April (Chris) Kenney, Lindsey (Chad) Johnson, Tim Klaas, Christopher Sabin, Elizabeth Sabin, Nicole Downing, and Anne Edwards; 19 great grandchildren, Ashley, Hope, Michael, and Kobe Robar, Chesnie Wingate, Jessica Merritt, Cody Wingate, Shiya, Brandon, Brice, and Jordan Kenny, Jayden and Hannah Johnson, Brody and Teagan Klaas, Hunter Gunzel, Nikolai Smaxwell, Ella Heilmann, and Lila Edwards; also other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Morden; husband, Bill Sabin; an infant grandchild, Michael; her daughter Barbara Ann who was killed in an automobile accident in Fort Bragg, NC while serving in the United States Army, brother, Jack Morden; sister, Jean (Morden) Peters; and a son-in-law, Mike Rudolf.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Deacon Alan Boeldt will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
