Sofia Ema Reyes Bonilla, age 16, found her peace on April 8, 2026, at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, after complications from leukemia. She was born on November 19, 2009, to Ashli (Zawacki) and Alejandro Reyes Bonilla in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Sofia attended Sheboygan North High School where she made lots of friends and made a huge impact on the students and teachers there. After Sofia had to leave school for treatment, her teachers and friends still checked in on her and included her in school events.

Sofia was feisty and sassy, but also the sweetest girl, and could always make you smile with her side eye. Although she didn't speak, she made sure to let people know what she thought. She and her mom were best friends. Sofia loved sea turtles and all sea creatures, and playing with her LED lights and beads. She had a great time dancing to all kinds of music and enjoyed going for car rides with her dad. Her parents will treasure their memories of the quiet times, too, sitting with her dad on the porch listening to music, or snuggling with her mom while falling asleep. She was a strong, stubborn fighter at the hospital but still a good patient for the nurses who cared for her. Sofia will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her, but she will never be forgotten.

Sofia is survived by her parents Ashli and Alejandro; siblings Geovani, Axel, Luna, Yaret, and special siblings Charli and Carson; grandparents Jodi Sittman, Ema Bonilla, and Gregorio Reyes; her special Kit Kat friend Newton; favorite great uncle Benny; godparents Jose Reyes Bonilla and Veronica Rodriguez; many special aunts and uncles, wonderful cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandpas William Wilhelm and John Zawacki, uncle Terry Wilhelm, and aunt Erika Reyes Bonilla.

Visitation will be held at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family are appreciated.
