Stanley W. Hollen, age 85, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life late Saturday evening, April 1, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Stanley was born on October 24, 1931 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Clayton and Rose Schroeder Hollen. Stanley was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. He entered the United States Army in 1952 and served his country overseas in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1954. Stanley returned to Manitowoc and became employed with the Kelvinator Company for the next 42 years from which he retired. On September 5, 1959 he married Patricia R. Jun at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Stanley was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Stanley and his son Michael, as his escort, went on the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in April 2016. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and canoeing. Stanley loved to travel, especially the trips taken to Disney World. Classical music, especially the tenors, were his favorite. Stanely had a creative and imaginative mind producing unique woodcarvings along with other works of art.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Patricia; four children: David Hollen (Frank Theobald), Los Angeles, CA; Kathy (Jim) Behnke, Manitowoc; Michael (Terri) Hollen, Manitowoc; Lisa (Dave) Heller, West St. Paul, MN; two grandchildren: Michael and Eric Behnke; two sisters-in-law: Sandy Hollen, Manitowoc; Sandra Hollen, OR; brother-in-law: Lee Haucke, Two Rivers; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clayton and Rose Hollen; infant brother: James Hollen; sister: Joan Haucke; and two brothers: Stewart and Robert Hollen.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand on Friday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Military rites will be accorded at the church following the funeral services by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88. A luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
