Van Swearingen
July 21, 1952 – January 22, 2023
Susan Merle Van Swearingen, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, age 70, a Manitowoc, Wisconsin resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her son, daughter & son in law on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
She was born July 21, 1952, daughter of the late Jerrell & Geraldine McGlothlin. Susan Attended Julliard on a dance scholarship when she was 18 years old until she fell madly in love with Van after meeting him at a party in Manhattan and never left his side. Susan Married Van, the love of her life on March 15, 1975. The love and passion they had for each other was undeniable. She was employed by Full Sail University from 1993 until retirement where she touched countless hearts and helped to brighten the lives of students, faculty and staff. She was beloved by all. After retirement she continued her love and passion of fabric artistry by teaching classes and creating beautiful works of art. She took great pride in making sure that the quilts she quilted were perfect and every person she worked for felt her love and perfection in each piece. Susan's hobbies included sewing, dancing, audible books, junk journaling, and going to Disney World. Susan accepted God as her lord and savior and died a Christian woman. Mom loved, laughed and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her last note she left to us stated that she left this life with no regrets.
Susan is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Briana and Michael Barta; one son and daughter-in-law: Aaron and Alison Van Swearingen; and four grandchildren: Madison, Henry, Edward Barta, and Abigail Van Swearingen. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred R. Van Swearingen, her parents: Jerrell and Geraldine McGlothlin and her brother Chris McGlothlin.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and a celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at Renewal Church, 2335 Appy Lane, Apopka, Florida, 32712.
