Thomas C. Babich Sr., age 66, a resident of Manitowoc, unexpectedly entered into eternal life on Friday, April 12, 2013 at his residence.
Tom was born on February 14, 1947 in Two Rivers to the late George and Hazel Zinn Babich. He graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1965. Tom was employed at Paragon Electric as a foreman until a disability forced him into an early retirement in 1979. Tom enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, painting, woodcarving, playing practical jokes on his family, sitting by bonfires, camping, and spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his two children: Thomas (Amy) Babich, Jr. and Sara (Derek) Meidl, both of Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Brittany Babich, Austin Babich, Mackenzie Meidl, and Carissa Meidl, all of Manitowoc; four step grandchildren: Lukas Schindler, Trempeleau; Fanicia Schindler, Trempeleau; Daniel Tabbert, Manitowoc; and Steven Tabbert, Manitowoc; great grandson: Liam Babich; three brothers: John Babich, Sturgeon Bay; Steve (Elaine) Babich, Santa Monica, CA; and Gary Babich, Pardeeville; two sisters: Jeanie (Jerry) Krueger and Cheryl (Jeff) Krueger, all of Manitowoc; aunt: Carol Spooner, Minneapolis, MN; mother of his children: Joy Kolbeck, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson: Zachary Thomas Babich.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev. Stephen Melso and Rev. Robert Kujowski will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at Bethany Ev. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
