Stephanie's Tribute to Her Mom:
31 years I had with my mom. Crazy how we normally think a decade, especially three is so horribly long. I'm sad to say three decades is not nearly enough time. Three decades and now I have to sum up a wonderful and magical person in a few paragraphs? How do you do that? How do you tell family, friends and the people who happen to read this just how wonderful my mom truly was.
Well here goes:
She liked to read books and then talk about them. Mystery books with a nice twist really was her favorite. It is truly no wonder why I love books. She liked music. HipHop, R&B, and Rap were her top three favorite genres. Though she rarely if ever sang the songs we blasted out loud. She felt the music, and that was more beautiful to witness than hearing her sing.
She liked being in nature. Especially around water and looking back on it now. I think that is when my mom was truly at peace. At rest. With a nice breeze, the sun shining; watching the water ripple. She taught me to laugh at the small things, and belly laugh at the big things. She had a laugh that was so contagious. You couldn't help but laugh in the end once she got rolling.
She had a goofy side that most people didn't know. Didn't get to see. She could be so funny and she cracked the funniest jokes. She had a true and amazing passion for cooking. Feeding people was her love language. Watching her in the kitchen was not just an honor but a witness to true magic taking place.
She loved fiercely. She was a loyal, protective, honest and hardworking person. She never stopped getting back up, dusting herself off and trying again. She never stopped being my role model.
She will be missed sadly and deeply by her only daughter Stephanie Kay Sears and partner Charles Winters. Her favorite cheeto eating gremlin, Dante Eben Winters and her sunshine, Mila Emery-Selene Winters.
