Obituary

Veronica "Chico" Franz, age 68, of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2017 at the family residence with her family by her side.

Chico was born on January 17, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Bishop Szymczyk. Chico was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1967. She had been employed locally in past years at Shopko, Maritime Museum, Goodwill, Office Max, and Kwik Trip. On February 13, 1971 she married Michael L. Franz at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Chico enjoying golfing on Thursday evenings with her friends. She was a number 1 Green Bay Packer fan never missing a game.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years: Michael; two sons: Christopher Franz, Minneapolis, MN; Andrew Franz, Manitowoc; daughter-in-law: Ellen Kulas, Manitowoc; two brothers and one sister: Jimmy (Pat) Szymczyk, Manitowoc; Patsy Joas, Manitowoc; Al (Kathy) Szymczyk, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Stanley and Mary Szymczyk; one son: Patrick Franz; two brothers: Bob Szymczyk and Ronnie (Mary Ann) Szymczyk; and two sisters: Janet Martel and Karen Szymczyk.

A Life Celebration Social will be held for family and friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family asks everyone attending to wear Green Bay Packer attire for this celebration of Chico's life in her honor. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Burial of Chico's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date.

The family would like to express their thanks for all of the great care that was given to Chico by Dr. Lynn Baatz and staff at the Cancer Care Center, the staff at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Holy Family Memorial Hospice.
