Obituary

Veronica "Bonnie" (Salutz) Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2023, in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was 93 years old.

Bonnie was born on March 30, 1930 to Leo and Anna Salutz of Valders, Wisconsin. She attended Valders High School and graduated class of 1949. Her class had a reunion nearly every year and she only missed two total.  She worked for Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc, Wisconsin for over 30 years and on November 8th, 1974, she married the love of her life Robert Johnson.  She always said that she became a wife, a mother, and a grandma all in one day when she married Robert.

In her younger years, Bonnie enjoyed golfing and was a very good bowler. She also enjoyed traveling, Las Vegas being one of her favorite places, and even went there for the Women's International Bowling Congress tournament. Bonnie was a very avid Green Bay Packers fan. In fact, she watched one last Monday Night Football game before passing in the early morning hours that followed. She loved her crossword puzzles and solitaire game. Bonnie enjoyed a good drink, a Manhattan or glass of wine being her drink of choice. She was an amazing storyteller and could put a smile on anyone's face. Most of all, Bonnie loved being surrounded by her many family and friends and was a great listener to those she loved. She truly lit up any room and to know her was to love her.

Bonnie is proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Johnson; her daughter, Judy (Robert, surviving) Fielding; her parents, Leo and Anna Salutz; her siblings, Father Gus, Florian (Ruby), Leo (Marie), Anne (Bill) Schuh, William (Mary), Lawrence (Carol, surviving), Joesph (Marge), Robert (Patricia), and Carmel (Jim) Vreeke; her parents in-law, Irving (Catherine) Johnson; and her brother and sister in-law, Irving Johnson and Rosetta Feldt.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Robert Johnson Jr, Colorado (Gina, Erica, Robert III), Jeanne Helms, Colorado (Nicole, Jody, Marisa) Cindy Morger, Colorado (Ashley) Becky (Wayne) Schmalz, Wisconsin, (Kelsey, Amber); 14 great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

Bonnie's family would like to give a special thank you to all of those who have taken care of her, visited her, made her special treats, did her hair, and just overall brought a smile to her face.  You were all very special to her and your love and help has been very much appreciated.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. A memorial service will follow at 3p.m.  Because Bonnie was such a big Packers fan and there being a game on the day of memorial, we invite fellow fans to attend in their green and gold.
