Obituary

Victor J. Koerner, age 96, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Applewood Assisted Living Facility in New Berlin.

Vic was born on October 3, 1924 in the town of Manitowoc Rapids.  He was the son of the late William and Mary Meyer Koerner.  Vic served with the United States Army overseas during World War II.  During his time overseas Vic fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  After being honorably discharged he returned to Manitowoc and became employed with the Erdmann Ford Dealership and later with Tri-Motors located on Marshall Street for 21 years, owning and operating the business for 10 years prior to selling the business.  After the sale of the business Vic still continued to work part time at the auto shop.  On May 14, 1946 he married Marie T. Tienor at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills.  She preceded him in death on February 20, 2004.  Vic was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Golden Kiwanis Club, Eagles Aire #706, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659 where he participated with the honor guard for numerous military graveside rites.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Val Koerner, Nebraska; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Dick Sramek, Colorado, Betty and Greg Ainsworth, Montana, and Kathy and Jeff Dobbert, New Berlin; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, special friends Rev. Gerald Foley and Doris Meyer both of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and one sister.

Private funeral services for the family will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1121 North 14 th Street, Manitowoc.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain, Rev. Gerald Foley, and Rev. Richard Klingeisen.  Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post #659 at the church.  The funeral service will be streamed live on the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home Facebook page at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday.  Also, a link to a recording of the funeral service will be added to Vic's obituary on the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home website. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
