Obituary

Victor E. Wampler, age 71, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away late Saturday evening, January 12, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Vic was born on February 12, 1946 in Salinas, CA to the late Ernest and Lucille (Thede) Wampler. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1963 and then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Yuma, Arizona, Vic met the love of his life, Nancy Hartley, and they were married on June 4, 1966 in Yuma. She preceded him in death August 10, 2014.

Vic started his career with GE Telephone Company until he decided to take the leap as an entrepreneur in 1976 and bought Green Acres Lawn and Garden Center. He then bought a Dairy Queen franchise, and lastly co-owned Coenen Furniture Store in Manitowoc with his wife working by his side for all. As a couple, they played as hard as they worked, always surrounding themselves with good friends and family. His biggest joy in life was his family and making sure everyone and everything was taken care of. Vic also loved his dogs KC and Jordy.

Survivors include his two children: Christine Throndson, Bristol, PA; Michael Wampler, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Cole Throndson, Manitowoc and Kendyl Throndson, Binghamton, NY; special friend: Lisakay Petkevicius, Manitowoc; two sisters: Beverly (Robert) Wildgrubee, Bellevue; Karen (John) Barlament, Manitowoc; one brother: Russell Wampler, Plymouth; one brother-in-law: Norris Jergenson, The Villages, FL; one sister-in-law: Shirley Atencio, Prescott, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Lucille Wampler; wife: Nancy; sister: Darlene Jergenson; two sisters-in-law: Sandy Wampler and Penny Wampler.
