Obituary

Wayne J. Schuetze, age 69, of 1130 South Lake Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Thursday evening, February 16, 2012 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Wayne was born on August 18, 1942 in Manitowoc. He was the son of Elaine Flegle Schuetze and the late Ralph Schuetze. Wayne attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1960. In his earlier years of employment Wayne had been employed with various local builders and contractor as a carpenter and designer. He then went on to become employed with Manitowoc Cranes and truly enjoyed his work there. He later became employed with Burger Boat Company where he was the head of the maintenance department. He enjoyed many years working there and retired in 2009. On June 2, 1962 he married Mary Logan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Wayne was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Manitowoc Yacht Club. He enjoyed the time spent at this cottage fishing, boating and simply enjoying nature.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Mary; four children: Rev. John Schuetze, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi; Paul Schuetze, Manitowoc, WI; Joseph Schuetze, Manitowoc, WI; Angela (Patrick) Katchak, Prospect, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Dennis, Jon, Logan, Angel, Corbin, Samantha and George; two great grandchildren: Macy and Wesley; his mother: Elaine Schuetze, Manitowoc, WI; one brother: Phil (Kris) Schuetze, Manitowoc, WI; two nephews: David and Clark; one niece: Kate; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Ralph Schuetze; one son in infancy: Daniel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joe and Charlotte Logan.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Wayne's son, the Rev. John Schuetze. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand Avenue from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
