Obituary

William S. Wegforth, age 73, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation.

Bill was born on April 5, 1953 in Manitowoc to the late William and Shirley (Griebling) Wegforth. He was a loving son and brother. In his younger years, there were many memories made with his siblings – including Betty Crocker cooking experiments with his sister, Susie, who in later years he also shared an apartment with. After graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1971, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force which allowed him to travel the world, including Peru and throughout South America. He was an Airman First Class, graduating in the upper 17% of his class. While at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, Bill served as Outside Wire Antenna Maintenance and Installation Specialist. After his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, he served in the United States Army Reserve where he attended the United States Army Engineer School and took the Utilities Equipment Repairer course at Ft. Belvoir in Virginia. Upon Bill’s return to Manitowoc, he worked at various places including Manitowoc Plumbing Supply, Holiday Inn, and Allied Universal Security. Living up to his title of “Mr. Fix It”, he enjoyed doing his own car maintenance, and repairing small appliances and electronics. Bill also enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, boating, fishing and hiking. He was a dog and cat owner and was a very avid Green Bay Packers fan. Bill was a Christian that enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing God’s love and the Word with his family and friends. He then expanded on this by becoming a W.O.W. Ambassador through the Way International for a year in the Georgia / Alabama region witnessing for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Survivors include Bill’s sister, Susie (Jason) Koch; nephew, Jared (Samantha) Koch; niece, Samara Koch; sister-in-law, Laurie Wegforth; along with other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Shirley Wegforth; brothers: Roger Wegforth and Tom Wegforth; and nephew, Preston Koch.
